Bryan ordered Virgin Islands flags flown at half-staff for Colin Powell

Gov. Albert Bryan Jr. ordered on Oct. 19, 2021, that Virgin Islands flags across the territory be flown at half-staff in memory of former Secretary of State Colin Powell.

The order followed President Joe Biden’s directive that U.S. flags be flown at half-staff. Government House said the flags were to remain at half-staff until sunset on Oct. 22, 2021.

Government House said American flags at workplaces were to be raised fully and then lowered to half-staff at sunrise. Outdoor flags were to be lowered at sunset unless the flagpoles were properly lit at night. At workplaces with one flagpole, the U.S. flag was to be placed above the Virgin Islands flag.
