Bryan names Ray Martinez director of Law Enforcement Planning Committee

Gov. Albert Bryan Jr. announced on April 8, 2019, that he had named former Virgin Islands Police Department Director of Intelligence Ray Martinez as director of the Virgin Islands Law Enforcement Planning Committee.

Martinez had worked for 12 years at the Virgin Islands Police Department and previously served as director of internal affairs, labor relations manager and director of intelligence, where he developed the department's Criminal Intelligence Unit and its policies and procedures.

Government House said the administration planned to refocus the committee on a data-driven approach to anti-crime programs and to pursue available federal funding for those efforts.

The Law Enforcement Planning Committee advises the governor on policies and initiatives aimed at reducing crime and delinquency in the U.S. Virgin Islands. It also administers federal block grants and other criminal-justice funds awarded to the territory by the U.S. Department of Justice, as well as Children's Justice Act funds from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.
