Gov. Mapp issues condolence statement on death of businessman Oliver McCoy Webster
Gov. Kenneth E. Mapp issued a statement of condolence on June 5, 2018, following the death of hotelier and business executive Oliver McCoy Webster on May 29, 2018.
Government House said Webster owned Island Laundries, a commercial laundry and dry-cleaning business on St. Thomas, and opened Palms Court Harborview in 1996. The facility hosted local events and conferences and also served as an entertainment venue.
Mapp said Webster had offered complimentary use of a public meeting room at Palms Court to nonprofit organizations, church groups and others.
Government House said Webster had been active in the Virgin Islands business community for nearly four decades. He was the father of Government House Chief of Protocol Lisa Webster Potter.
According to the statement, Webster was survived by his wife, Lorna, three children, seven grandchildren and other relatives and friends.
