Trump approved emergency declaration for U.S. Virgin Islands after Hurricane Dorian

President Donald Trump approved Gov. Albert Bryan Jr.'s request for a federal emergency declaration for the U.S. Virgin Islands on Aug. 29, 2019, following Hurricane Dorian.

The declaration ordered federal assistance to supplement the territory's response efforts and authorized the Federal Emergency Management Agency to coordinate disaster relief efforts and provide assistance for required emergency measures.

It also authorized FEMA to identify, mobilize and provide equipment and resources necessary for recovery from Hurricane Dorian. Emergency protective measures were to be funded at 75% federal cost share.
