Bryan says revised COVID-19 rules for bars and nightclubs took effect Oct. 29
Gov. Albert Bryan Jr. said during a Government House press briefing on Nov. 2, 2021, that revised COVID-19 protocols for bars, nightclubs and dancing in establishments took effect on Oct. 29.
Bryan said the briefing was intended to address public confusion about the rules. Department of Health Environmental Health Director Wanson Harris, who oversees COVID-19 Task Force enforcement, said officers enforce directives set out in the governor’s executive orders issued since the pandemic began in March 2020.
Bryan also said checks for the 8% wage repayment tied to the 2011 Virgin Islands Economic Stability Act were expected to be sent out the week of Nov. 8, 2021. He urged residents to verify their information through the Division of Personnel website.
The government also said free COVID-19 vaccinations remained available at Community Vaccination Centers in both districts by appointment or walk-in. Pop-up vaccination sites were scheduled on Tuesdays and Thursdays at Cost-U-Less on St. Thomas from noon to 3 p.m., Tuesdays and Thursdays at the Charles Harwood Complex on St. Croix from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., and Wednesdays at the V.I. Port Authority gravel lot on St. Croix from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.
Government House reported that as of Nov. 2, 2021, the territory had a seven-day positivity rate of 2.13% and 89 active COVID-19 cases, including 82 on St. Croix and seven on St. Thomas. It reported 81 fatalities, one hospitalized COVID-19 patient at Juan F. Luis Medical Center on St. Croix, and no hospitalized COVID-19 patients at Schneider Regional Medical Center on St. Thomas.
