The Virgin Islands Water and Power Authority said it participated in St. Croix’s 52nd annual Agriculture and Food Fair from February 17 through February 19, 2024.

WAPA said its staff operated stations at the fair covering power generation, transmission and distribution, meter tampering, electrical safety, water conservation and lead exposure. The authority said employees from the Richmond Power Plant, Transmission and Distribution, Internal Audit Revenue Assurance, Communications and the Chief Administration Office took part.

The authority said its display in the Energy Village, in collaboration with the Virgin Islands Energy Office and the University of the Virgin Islands’ Caribbean Green Technology Center, included a grant-funded electric bucket truck and a Tesla vehicle. WAPA also said it offered children’s activities focused on water conservation and electrical safety.

According to the release, WAPA distributed handouts on reducing electricity use, reporting electricity theft and Environmental Protection Agency recommendations on reducing lead exposure at home. It also said faucet and pitcher filters were distributed during the fair.
