Bryan approved $20 million in ARPA funding for Schneider and Juan F. Luis hospitals

Gov. Albert Bryan Jr. approved $20 million in American Rescue Plan Act funding for the territory’s two hospitals, according to a Government House announcement published July 26, 2022.

The funding provided $10 million each to Schneider Regional Medical Center on St. Thomas and Juan F. Luis Hospital on St. Croix.

Government House said most of the money was to support staff recruitment and retention. About $2 million for each hospital was designated for information-technology upgrades intended to improve patient tracking and medical coding and billing systems.

The remaining funds could be used for other hospital needs, including facility upgrades and maintenance, according to the announcement.
