Second December batch of Virgin Islands income tax refunds totaled $10.2 million

Government House said on Dec. 16, 2020, that the Virgin Islands Bureau of Internal Revenue had issued a second batch of income tax refunds in December, bringing the month's total to more than $15 million.

The bureau sent 3,550 refund checks totaling $10,210,766 on Dec. 14, 2020, according to the statement. It said the bureau had sent 1,100 refund checks totaling $5 million during the previous week.

The December disbursements included refunds for tax year 2018, according to Bureau of Internal Revenue Director Joel Lee.

Government House said 37,700 checks totaling $112.8 million had been issued to date. It said 24,700 checks totaling $68 million were issued during fiscal year 2020.

The statement said taxpayers who believed they were owed an income tax refund from 2017 or earlier should contact the Bureau of Internal Revenue to address any issues with their accounts.
