The Virgin Islands Water and Power Authority’s governing board on Sept. 16, 2021, unanimously approved a health insurance benefits package for employees, according to WAPA.

The board also approved the Electric System’s fiscal year 2022 operating and capital budgets and the Water System’s fiscal year 2022 capital budget.

In other action, the board approved an $85,000 contract amendment for the fiscal year 2019 financial and single audits.

The board also approved a $345,034.59 increase in material costs for the Container Port Electrical Underground Project on St. Croix and a 250-day contract extension. WAPA said the additional funding covered increased material costs. J. Benton and Associates was the contractor on the project, which was expected to begin in September 2021.

In executive session, the board discussed legal and personnel matters and took no action.

WAPA said board members in attendance were Chairman Kyle Fleming, Secretary Juanita Young, Elizabeth Armstrong, Cheryl Boynes Jackson and Hubert A. Turnbull.
