WAPA reported outage on St. Croix feeder as winds affected power service
The Virgin Islands Water and Power Authority said on August 22, 2020, that all electrical distribution feeders were online on St. Thomas and St. John, though some customers were experiencing isolated service interruptions.
On St. Croix, WAPA said an electrical service interruption was affecting Feeder 9B. Crews found burned lines and damaged electrical equipment and were assessing the damage.
WAPA said gusty winds were expected to affect the electric grids until mid- to late afternoon on August 22, 2020. The authority said wind was causing primary service lines to make contact, while vegetation overgrowth and broken limbs and branches on lines were also contributing to electrical faults.
The authority said water systems were operating normally in both districts.
