The Virgin Islands Department of Planning and Natural Resources announced on May 10, 2023, that a public meeting had been scheduled for May 18 on a federal consistency application tied to a Virgin Islands Water and Power Authority project in Estate Hannah’s Rest, Frederiksted, St. Croix.
According to the notice, WAPA proposed a federally funded project to bury utility lines by installing underground ducts, manholes, pad-mounted transformers and other underground equipment to replace existing overhead distribution lines.
The meeting was set to begin at 5:30 p.m. on May 18, 2023, by Zoom. Written statements on the project were due by May 25, 2023, to the Department of Planning and Natural Resources’ Coastal Zone Management program.
The notice said an environmental assessment report was available on the DPNR-CZM website and that project plans could be reviewed by appointment at the Coastal Zone Management office at 45 Mars Hill in Frederiksted.
