Finance Department said 901 income tax refunds totaling $7.2 million were to be mailed Sept. 18
The Virgin Islands Department of Finance and Bureau of Internal Revenue said on Sept. 18, 2018, that 901 income tax refund checks totaling $7.2 million were scheduled to be mailed that day.
Bureau of Internal Revenue Director Marvin L. Pickering said the latest batch brought the total amount of refunds paid in fiscal year 2018 to $40.1 million, covering more than 14,000 refunds.
The agencies said taxpayers who timely filed 2015 and earlier returns and had not received expected refunds should contact the Bureau of Internal Revenue. Taxpayers who had not filed 2017 returns were urged to do so, and those with valid extensions had until Oct. 15, 2018, to submit their returns.
