Bryan attended NGA energy roundtable in Hawaii, Government House said

Government House said on May 13, 2024, that Gov. Albert Bryan Jr. was in Hawaii for the National Governors Association Energy Security, Resilience and Recovery Roundtable.

Communications Director Richard Motta Jr. said Bryan was accompanied by VITEMA Director Daryl Jaschen and Office of Disaster Recovery Director Adrienne L. Williams-Octalien. Motta said the meeting came as the U.S. Virgin Islands remained under a local state of emergency tied to the Water and Power Authority’s inability to maintain adequate generating capacity.

According to Government House, Bryan was scheduled to meet with federal officials and leaders from Alaska, American Samoa, Guam, Hawaii, the Northern Mariana Islands and Puerto Rico to discuss energy security issues affecting island jurisdictions, including natural threats, remote networks, fuel supply delays and utility governance.

Government House said Bryan was scheduled to return to the territory on May 18, 2024, and that Lt. Gov. Tregenza Roach was serving as acting governor until his return.

At the same May 13 briefing, Motta said the USVI 2024 Wellness Fair would offer free dental, optometry and medical screenings for residents from June 1 through June 9, 2024, on St. Croix and St. Thomas. He said back-to-school vaccinations would be available at Maternal and Child Health clinics on all three islands.
