The Virgin Islands Water and Power Authority said intersections along King Street and Queen Street in Frederiksted were scheduled to close during the week of February 1, 2021, to accommodate work on the Frederiksted Waterline Rehabilitation Project.

King Street closures were set for February 1 through February 3, and Queen Street closures were scheduled for February 3 through February 6. Detours were to be marked at the affected intersections.

WAPA said the closures and traffic-flow changes were needed so contractor Leumas Engineering could connect pipelines across the intersections. The authority said water service interruptions were not anticipated.

The work was part of the second phase of the Frederiksted Waterline Rehabilitation Project, which involved replacing ductile iron waterlines with PVC lines.
