St. John resident appointed liaison after hurricane task force meeting

More than 100 residents attended the third community meeting of Gov. Kenneth E. Mapp’s Hurricane Recovery and Resilience Task Force on St. John during the week of April 23, 2018, according to Government House.

The meeting was held at Julius E. Sprauve School. Chief of Staff Eugene Farrell said the administration would increase communication with the St. John community.

After the meeting, Task Force CEO Dina Leroy appointed Coral Bay resident Kurt Marsh to the task force as a community liaison for St. John, according to the statement.

Government House said the meeting was part of a series intended to gather community feedback for recovery planning. Participants included Celia Kalousek, executive director of the St. John Community Foundation, and representatives of the Federal Emergency Management Agency and the Virgin Islands Housing Finance Authority Emergency Home Repairs program.

The statement said the next community meeting was scheduled for May 2, 2018, at Charlotte Amalie High School auditorium on St. Thomas.
