Bryan administration scheduled virtual Community Business Forum for Dec. 16, 2020

Government House announced on December 11, 2020, that Gov. Albert Bryan Jr. would host the first U.S. Virgin Islands Community Business Forum at 9 a.m. on December 16, 2020, as a virtual Teams Live Event.

The administration said the forum was open to businesses in the territory and to people interested in starting a business in the Virgin Islands. The event's theme was "Adapting Business for COVID Normal."

According to the announcement, Bryan was scheduled to open the forum with a discussion of the Vision 2040 economic-development initiative, workforce development and the use of technology in the economy.

Government House said presentations would cover cruise tourism, overnight visitors, chambers of commerce, restaurants, the marine industry, young entrepreneurs, the territory's economic reopening and restructuring task force, public-health practices for travelers and businesses, business-development tools, online business opportunities, local alternatives, excursions and disability access.

Presenters were scheduled to include representatives from Royal Caribbean, the Virgin Islands Hotel and Tourism Association, the St. Thomas-St. John Chamber of Commerce, the St. Croix Chamber of Commerce, the University of the Virgin Islands, the Virgin Islands Economic Development Authority, the departments of Health, Human Services, and Licensing and Consumer Affairs, the Office of the Lieutenant Governor, the National Park Service and the Virgin Islands Taxi Cab Commission.

The announcement said the forum would include a question-and-answer session and that attendees could submit questions during the presentations. Registration was to be completed by email.
