Bryan granted administrative leave for non-essential government workers on April 1 for Transfer Day observance
Gov. Albert Bryan Jr. said on March 27, 2019, that he would sign a proclamation granting administrative leave to non-essential Virgin Islands government personnel on Monday, April 1, 2019, in observance of the 102nd anniversary of Transfer Day.
Government House said Virgin Islands law allows the governor to grant administrative leave on the following Monday when a holiday such as Transfer Day falls on a Sunday.
In announcing the proclamation, Bryan said he wanted Virgin Islanders to reflect on the 1917 transfer and discuss the territory's political relationship with the United States.
