The Virgin Islands Water and Power Authority said on November 30, 2023, that eligible St. Croix customers could pick up water vouchers at its Sunny Isles Business Office from December 4 through December 7 during extended hours from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m.
WAPA said the added pickup period followed a previous distribution event held on St. Croix from November 18 through November 20, 2023. The authority said customers who missed that event or had eligibility issues could use the additional pickup window.
The vouchers were valued at $100. WAPA said customers also could continue picking up vouchers at the Sunny Isles office during regular business hours before the vouchers expired on February 19, 2024.
According to the notice, eligible customers needed to have an active WAPA water account, or provide a lease or sign an affidavit if they were renters or non-account holders; show potable water use during the previous six months, defined as April 2023 through September 2023; and live in one of the listed affected areas on St. Croix.
WAPA said residents of impacted Virgin Islands Housing Authority properties, Meals on Wheels households including those on the waiting list, Mutual Homes, Vista Mar and Louis E. Brown would receive vouchers directly through their agencies or management offices.
