Mapp orders flags in U.S. Virgin Islands flown at half-staff for Sen. John McCain

Gov. Kenneth E. Mapp ordered on Aug. 27, 2018, that flags at Government House and at public buildings and grounds across the U.S. Virgin Islands be flown at half-staff until sunset on the day of Sen. John McCain’s interment.

The statement said Mapp also urged private building owners in the territory to lower their flags in McCain’s honor.

McCain died on Aug. 25, 2018, at age 81 after what the statement described as a year-long battle with brain cancer.
