Bryan was out of the territory Nov. 20-26; McCurdy served as acting governor
Gov. Albert Bryan Jr. was scheduled to be out of the U.S. Virgin Islands from Nov. 20 through Nov. 26 for the Thanksgiving holiday, according to a Government House announcement published Nov. 20.
Lt. Gov. Tregenza Roach also was out of the territory and was scheduled to return on Nov. 29. During their absences, Finance Commissioner nominee Kevin McCurdy was designated acting governor.
The announcement also said Bryan granted non-essential government employees administrative leave on Friday, Nov. 24, designated as "A Day of Prayer for Peace."
In a Thanksgiving message included in the announcement, Bryan urged residents to reflect on the holiday and expressed gratitude for the community's resilience and unity.
