Bryan nominates H. Nathalie Hodge for DLCA commissioner

Gov. Albert Bryan Jr. announced on August 7, 2023, that he had nominated H. Nathalie Hodge to serve as commissioner of the Department of Licensing and Consumer Affairs.

Bryan said during a Government House briefing that Hodge had been serving as acting commissioner since July 31, 2023, when former Commissioner Richard Evangelista was appointed chief legal counsel.

According to Government House, Hodge had worked at DLCA for more than 24 years in roles including tobacco investigations coordinator, administrator of boards and commissions, and assistant commissioner. Government House said she oversaw the department’s business operations, human resources, and the administration, management, budget and direction of eight professional boards and commissions.

The announcement came the same day Bryan visited the Julius E. Sprauve School on St. John, Ivanna Eudora Kean High School on St. Thomas, and the Lew Muckle, Ricardo Richards and Pearl B. Larsen elementary schools on St. Croix for the first day of the 2023-2024 school year.
