Bryan introduces first 12 participants in Virgin Islands financial fellows program

Gov. Albert Bryan Jr. on Nov. 9, 2021, introduced the first 12 participants in the Government of the Virgin Islands' Financial Fellows Program at the University of the Virgin Islands Administration and Conference Center on St. Thomas.

Government House said 38 people applied and 12 were selected for the first fellowship class. The fellows were to spend two years working in the Bureau of Internal Revenue, the Office of Management and Budget, the Department of Finance and the Office of Disaster Recovery, rotating every six months among the four offices.

The Office of Management and Budget was set to manage the program under Director Jenifer O'Neal. Government House said the fellows would be full-time employees with government benefits and would be assigned mentors from various agencies who would provide at least eight hours of mentoring each month.

Government House said the participants came from various backgrounds and had received college degrees within the previous three years. It also said each participant had been provided a laptop and other tools for the job.

The 2021 fellows were Roberto Tirado, Khaleila Krall, Mahlayi DeFoe, Desiree Fleming, Jamila Felix, Lineek Williams, Kahina Brannigan, Malachi Peterson, Shani Isaac, Harold Brown, Victoria Gario and Acassia Ferguson.
