Bryan said he and the attorney general would announce anti-trafficking initiative on July 27
Gov. Albert Bryan Jr. said in a statement issued on July 22, 2023, that he and Attorney General Ariel Smith would make an announcement on July 27 about a new initiative aimed at preventing and identifying human trafficking and expanding support for victims.
Bryan said the proposal was developed through conversations with sex-trafficking victims and trafficking-prevention experts. He said the initiative was intended to strengthen the Virgin Islands government's ability to support victims and combat trafficking.
In the statement, Bryan also said he supported the Justice Department's efforts to enforce federal anti-trafficking laws against JPMorgan Chase, as well as actions taken against Jeffrey Epstein's estate on behalf of victims.
