Government House says bars and nightclubs could reopen Nov. 9 under executive order restrictions
Government House said on Nov. 6, 2020, that bars and nightclubs in the U.S. Virgin Islands could reopen on Nov. 9 under restrictions set out in Gov. Albert Bryan Jr.'s 19th Supplemental Executive Order.
According to the notice, bars and nightclubs were limited to seated service under the territory's COVID-19 guidance for restaurants, bars and nightclubs. Standing around bar counters was not allowed, and there could be no sitting or alcohol service at bar counters.
Patrons seated at tables in designated seating areas could order food or alcohol. Table seating was limited to six people, and tables were required to be spaced at least 6 feet apart.
The notice said alcohol could not be sold or distributed from 11 p.m. to 8 a.m., and patrons were not allowed in establishments from midnight to 6 a.m. Masks were required except when patrons were seated at designated tables.
Pool tables were permitted if facial coverings were worn at all times and equipment and surrounding areas were disinfected after each game. Live music and DJ entertainment also were allowed under the existing COVID-19 guidance.
Occupancy was capped at 50% of regular capacity set by a business license or the Fire Marshal before the pandemic, or 100 customers, whichever was less. Cabarets were to remain closed.
