Bryan resubmitted bill seeking $1.75 million for Ann E. Abramson Marine Facility repairs and new pier
Gov. Albert Bryan Jr. resubmitted legislation on Jan. 27, 2021, asking the 34th Legislature to appropriate $1.75 million for repairs to the Ann E. Abramson Marine Facility and construction of a new service pier in Frederiksted.
The administration said Bryan had first submitted the proposal to the 33rd Legislature in November 2020, but it was not acted upon.
The measure sought to appropriate the money from the St. Croix Capital Improvement Fund.
In a transmittal letter to Senate President Donna Frett-Gregory, Bryan said the cruise industry shutdown that began in March 2020 during the COVID-19 pandemic had reduced the Virgin Islands Port Authority's ability to finance repairs to the deteriorated tender landing at the facility.
