The Virgin Islands Water and Power Authority said it participated in the annual Eco-Fair on St. Croix on April 19 and April 20, 2023, at the Botanical Gardens and through virtual sessions tied to Earth Day observances.
According to the authority, staff taught students how potable water is processed, the importance of water conservation and ways to adopt more sustainable practices in daily life. The authority said Water Division employee Marcus Knight also discussed his role in supplying water to the community and explained reasons water outages can occur.
WAPA said participating schools included Juanita Gardine Elementary School, Good Hope Country Day, Lew Muckle Elementary School, Alfredo Andrews Elementary School and St. Croix Montessori, among others.
The event was hosted by the St. Croix Environmental Association, which said the fair was intended to educate students about Earth Day and environmentally friendly practices.
