Bryan issues statement on death of educator and businesswoman Yvonne Milliner George-Bowsky

Gov. Albert Bryan Jr. issued a statement on March 24, 2022, mourning the death of former St. Thomas educator and businesswoman Yvonne Milliner George-Bowsky.

In the statement, Bryan said George-Bowsky had served as principal of the then-Peace Corps Elementary School in the 1970s and later as insular superintendent for the St. Thomas-St. John District of the Virgin Islands Department of Education until her retirement in 1989.

The statement said the Peace Corps Elementary School was renamed in her honor in 2006.

Bryan and first lady Yolanda Bryan extended condolences to George-Bowsky's family, friends and others mourning her death.
