Bryan appoints Moleto A. Smith Jr. to lead VI Law Enforcement Planning Commission
Gov. Albert Bryan appointed Moleto A. Smith Jr. as executive director of the Virgin Islands Law Enforcement Planning Commission, Government House announced on Jan. 29, 2024.
Government House said Smith had more than three decades of experience in government operations, health care and emergency management.
According to the announcement, Smith previously served as interim and acting commissioner and deputy commissioner of the Virgin Islands Department of Human Services. He also led the St. Thomas East End Medical Center Corporation and the British Virgin Islands Health Services Authority.
Government House said Smith also had served with civic organizations including AARP Virgin Islands, the National Alliance on Mental Illness-VI and the Virgin Islands Head Start Program, and held memberships in the American College of Healthcare Executives and the National Association of Community Health Centers. The announcement also said he was involved with the Clinton Foundation Global Initiative Post Hurricane Recovery Network.
