Bryan scheduled to attend National Governors Association winter meeting in Washington
Gov. Albert Bryan Jr. was scheduled to travel to Washington on February 7, 2020, to attend the National Governors Association winter meeting and meet with senior White House officials, according to Government House.
Government House said Bryan was expected to join governors and policy experts for discussions on economic prosperity, infrastructure, and disaster planning and response.
During the trip, Bryan also was scheduled to participate in a senior plenary session of the Interagency Group on Insular Areas, where the governors of the U.S. territories were expected to outline federal priorities with White House officials and U.S. Department of the Interior leadership.
Government House said Bryan also planned to meet with U.S. Treasury officials to continue discussions on proposed revenue streams aimed at preventing insolvency in the Government Employees Retirement System.
The administration linked those talks to legislation Bryan had called the 33rd Legislature into special session to consider in December 2019, including an expansion of the Virgin Islands Medical Cannabis Patient Care Act and other proposed revenue measures.
