WAPA contractor surveyed meters and other utility assets on St. Thomas for GIS inventory project
The Virgin Islands Water and Power Authority said technicians from contractor Davey Resource Group were scheduled to visit customer meters and other transmission and distribution assets on St. Thomas from February 26 through March 8, 2024, as part of a Geographic Information Systems inventory project.
WAPA said the work covered sections of feeder 6B in the Main Street area and feeder 6A in the Crown Mountain area. The utility said crews also would work along Highway 30 and Kronprindsens Gade from Frederiksberg Point northward through Charlotte Amalie West.
According to the notice, manhole crews were expected to direct traffic during the assessments. WAPA said some locations along Highway 30 would require single-lane closures, while in-road work on Kronprindsens Gade would require half-road closures with two-directional flagging. The utility said traffic in all directions would be maintained.
WAPA said Davey technicians would use tablets, GPS equipment and other devices during the field inventory and could be identified by WAPA contractor ID badges, safety vests and a letter of authority.
