WAPA said billing test error generated unintended charges for about 3,000 electric customers

The Virgin Islands Water and Power Authority said on April 9, 2024, that an autopay file was inadvertently processed during testing in its billing test environment, generating charges for about 3,000 electric customers.

WAPA said it was working to reverse the unintended charges. The authority said the incident occurred on April 8, 2024, and that it was taking steps to prevent a similar error.
