Government House statement said Port Hamilton held title to Limetree Bay refinery assets
Government House said in a statement issued June 23, 2022, that court records showed title to the Limetree Bay refinery's purchased assets on St. Croix was transferred to Port Hamilton Refining and Transportation LLLP at closing.
The statement said the refinery sale was conducted under U.S. Bankruptcy Code procedures and that details were available in the docket of the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of Texas, Houston Division, in Case 21-32351.
According to the statement, a public order dated Dec. 21, 2021 approved the sale under an asset purchase agreement attached to the order. Government House said West Indies Petroleum Limited and Port Hamilton Refining and Transportation LLLP were designated as the winning bidder and were parties to the agreement as purchaser.
Government House said court filings indicated that, although both companies were purchasers under the agreement, title to the assets and contracts was in Port Hamilton from the outset. The statement said the government would continue to monitor developments at the refinery.
