Bryan signed bills extending emergency declaration and authorizing St. Croix land purchase

Gov. Albert Bryan Jr. signed two bills, one extending the U.S. Virgin Islands state of emergency through Dec. 8, 2020, and another authorizing the government to buy property on St. Croix.

The 33rd Legislature passed Bill No. 33-0424 on Oct. 6, 2020, extending the state of emergency that Bryan had declared in March 2020 as the COVID-19 pandemic spread in the territory.

The Legislature also passed Bill No. 33-0419 on Sept. 30, 2020, approving the government's purchase of two parcels totaling about six acres in Estate La Grange on St. Croix from Dr. Rafael Garcia for $282,187.

According to Government House, the land was to be used for Phase II of the Frederiksted Economic Revitalization Project.
