Mapp and Potter recognized St. John first responders at Festival Parade
Gov. Kenneth E. Mapp and Lt. Gov. Osbert E. Potter recognized St. John first responders during the St. John Festival Parade in Cruz Bay on July 4, 2018, according to Government House.
The first responders were this year’s grand marshals and were honored for their hurricane recovery work.
Festival entries included the Dynamic Dancers, the Love City Pan Dragons Steel Band, the St. John School of the Arts and the Gypsies.
The final night of entertainment at Sessionsville Festival Village included performances by the Village Honorees, Cool Sessions Brass, Xtreme Band, Farmer Nappy, Blaxx and Kes the Band. A fireworks display followed in Cruz Bay harbor.
Mapp also said during the event that St. John had made significant progress since the Category 5 hurricanes of September 2017 and noted that the festival had been safe and incident-free.
