WAPA scheduled community events and customer-service office changes for Public Power Week in October 2019
The Virgin Islands Water and Power Authority said it planned community events in both districts during Customer Service Week and Public Power Week in October 2019.
WAPA said mini community events were scheduled for Wednesday, October 9, 2019, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Tutu Park Mall on St. Thomas and for Thursday, October 10, 2019, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Sunny Isle Shopping Center on St. Croix.
According to the notice, the events were to include customer sign-ups for WAPA alerts, information on electrical feeders, customer information updates with service representatives, and demonstrations related to electrical and water safety and meter operation.
WAPA also said some customer-service offices would open later during the week. The St. Thomas office at Port of Sale Mall and the St. John office at The Marketplace were scheduled to open at 9:30 a.m. on Monday, October 7, 2019, while the St. Croix customer-service office at Sunny Isle Annex was scheduled to open at 9:30 a.m. on Tuesday, October 8, 2019. The authority said the offices would close at their usual times on those days.
The authority said all customer-service centers would be closed on Friday, October 11, 2019, and that normal operations would resume on Tuesday, October 15, 2019.
