Bryan rescheduled special Senate session to Aug. 25 after COVID-19 issue at Legislature
Gov. Albert Bryan Jr. rescheduled a special session of the 33rd Legislature from Aug. 18, 2020, to Aug. 25, 2020, citing COVID-19 circumstances affecting the Legislature.
The postponement followed Sen. Kenneth Gittens' disclosure on Aug. 17, 2020, that he had tested positive for the virus. The administration said the delay was needed to investigate possible exposure among Legislature staff and to carry out sanitization procedures.
Bryan had called the special session for lawmakers to consider legislation amending Title 29 of the Virgin Islands Code to add a chapter creating the Matching Fund Securitization Corporation.
