OMB scheduled $500 Social Security stipend check distribution for Nov. 9-10
Government House said on November 7, 2022, that the Virgin Islands Office of Management and Budget would distribute $500 Social Security supplemental checks on November 9 and 10 to eligible Social Security recipients who are seniors or on disability.
The payments were funded through the American Rescue Plan Act State and Local Fiscal Recovery Fund, according to the administration.
Distribution was scheduled from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. in both districts. On St. Thomas, checks were to be distributed in the Roy Lester Schneider Hospital front parking lot. On St. Croix, distribution was to take place in the parking lot of the VIYA building in Estate Diamond. On St. John, checks were made available for pickup at the Administrator’s Office on November 7.
Recipients were required to present a valid photo ID. Government House said eligible residents who could not pick up checks on the scheduled distribution days would be able to do so the following week.
The administration said the payments followed a months-long effort to resolve issues with addresses provided by the Social Security Administration for recipients in the territory. It said residents who could not pick up checks in person could contact OMB to verify their address so mailing arrangements could be made.
