Senate Rules Committee approves Derek Gabriel nomination for Public Works commissioner

The Senate Rules and Judiciary Committee unanimously approved Derek Gabriel’s nomination to serve as commissioner of the Department of Public Works on March 25, 2021.

All six committee members present voted to advance the nomination to the full 34th Legislature. Sen. Stephen Payne was absent from the hearing.

Gabriel had most recently served as territory manager for APTIM. He previously served as deputy commissioner of the Department of Property and Procurement and managed The Lumberyard on St. John.
