Tourism Department backed customer-service training sessions in St. Croix and St. Thomas
The Virgin Islands Department of Tourism said on May 4, 2018, that it was supporting three days of tourism-industry training during National Travel and Tourism Week, scheduled for May 6 through May 12, 2018.
The training, offered by Aquila’s Center for Cruise Excellence, included "Customer Service & Frontline Training" sessions on May 9 and May 10 at the University of the Virgin Islands campuses on St. Croix and St. Thomas. According to the announcement, the sessions were aimed at frontline tourism workers, including tour and taxi drivers and hospitality sales staff, and covered topics such as making a strong impression on visitors, handling challenging situations and cultural differences.
Additional sessions were scheduled for May 8 at The Buccaneer Hotel on St. Croix and May 10 at The West Indian Company’s Administrative Building on St. Thomas. Those workshops were intended for tourism stakeholders including retail and shore-excursion operators, with a focus on shore-excellence practices.
