Mapp approved four additional road projects on St. Croix

Gov. Kenneth E. Mapp approved contracts for four additional road projects on St. Croix, according to a Government House announcement published April 9, 2018.

The work was to be carried out by VI Paving and VIAPCO.

Plans for Melvin Evans Highway called for pavement rehabilitation and safety improvements from East Airport Road to the Estate Profit intersection. The project included construction, surveying and staking, soil erosion control, removal of guard rails and concrete paving.

Two Frederiksted roads were also slated for improvements: the street adjacent to the Walter I.M. Hodge Housing Community and Queen Mary Highway, or Route 70, near Armstrong Ice Cream.

The announcement also said extensive repairs would be made in the Estate La Grande Princess neighborhood in Christiansted.

Mapp urged motorists to use caution while work was being performed in those areas.
