Bryan scheduled July 1 press conference on 175th anniversary of Emancipation Day
Government House said on June 27, 2022, that Gov. Albert Bryan Jr. had scheduled a press conference for July 1 to announce plans for commemorating the 175th anniversary of Emancipation Day on July 3, 2023.
The announcement was made during the weekly Government House briefing by Communications Director Richard Motta Jr.
At the same briefing, officials said an Office of Management and Budget informational session on federal COVID-19 relief funds was scheduled for June 29 at Yacht Haven Grande on St. Thomas.
Officials also said the Education Department was seeking access to seven homes near Evelyn M. Williams Elementary School on St. Croix for inspections before the school's planned demolition in July, and that a second effort to secure residents' cooperation was set to begin on June 30.
Government House said the application deadline for the GVI Financial Fellows program had been extended to July 15.
Health officials reported a seven-day COVID-19 positivity rate of 8.97% as of June 27, with 173 active cases territorywide and one patient hospitalized at Juan F. Luis Hospital on St. Croix.
