The Virgin Islands Water and Power Authority said on April 20, 2021, that its contractor, Leumas Engineering, was scheduled to begin repaving streets and roadways in Frederiksted that week as a water rehabilitation project neared completion.

WAPA said the repaving marked the final phase of a project that began in March 2020 and included the installation of about 16,000 feet of new water lines on roads and side streets in Frederiksted. The work included replacing older iron ductile water lines with PVC piping.

According to WAPA, paving was scheduled to begin on King Street, followed in subsequent weeks by Queen Street, Prince Street, Hospital Street, New Street, Queen Cross Street, Lagoon Street, Market Street and Hill Street. The contractor was also expected to complete remaining service connections from main lines to customer meter boxes during the repaving work.

WAPA said it expected the project to be completed by May 31, 2021.
