Bryan sought $1.5 million for Frederiksted waterfront and Buddhoe Park improvements
Gov. Albert Bryan Jr. said on May 3, 2021, that his administration was sending legislation to the Legislature seeking $1.5 million for improvements to the Frederiksted waterfront from Dorsch Beach along Strand Street to Buddhoe Park.
The proposal called for upgrades and repairs in the waterfront area, along with lighting and other repairs to the Ann Abramson Pier.
At the same May 3 press briefing, Bryan said negotiations had begun for redevelopment of Hotel on the Cay in Christiansted.
He also listed other downtown-area projects underway or planned, including the completed Main Street project on St. Thomas; the Veteran's Drive widening project on St. Thomas, which he said was nearing the end of the second half of Phase I; the completed Battery project in Cruz Bay; Government House on St. Thomas, which he said was expected to be completed in summer 2021; road paving projects in downtown areas; restoration and redevelopment of Gallows Bay Marina, expected to begin in summer 2021; restoration of King's Alley Pier, expected to begin in early summer 2021; and lighting and a tender dock at Ann Abramson Pier, also expected to begin in early summer 2021.
