USVI ended COVID-19 travel portal for domestic travel on June 1
Gov. Albert Bryan Jr. said during a Government House briefing on May 31, 2022, that the U.S. Virgin Islands' COVID-19 screening travel portal would stop operating on June 1, 2022, ending testing requirements for domestic travel to the territory.
During the same briefing, Bryan said the territory would observe "Aliyah Boston Day" on June 4, 2022, with a parade beginning at 11:30 a.m. at Griffith Ball Park on St. Thomas and ending at the Waterfront promenade, where a ceremony was scheduled to honor the St. Thomas native and South Carolina basketball player.
Bryan also congratulated Shadya Coureur, a 13-year-old eighth-grader from Free Will Baptist Christian School on St. Croix, for winning the territorial spelling bee and representing the U.S. Virgin Islands in the Scripps National Spelling Bee.
Government House reported that as of May 31, 2022, the territory had a seven-day COVID-19 positivity rate of 11.58% and 664 active cases, including 487 on St. Croix, 147 on St. Thomas and 30 on St. John. It said three COVID-19 patients were hospitalized at Juan F. Luis Hospital on St. Croix, including one on a ventilator, and six were hospitalized at Schneider Regional Medical Center on St. Thomas, with none on ventilators.
