Bryan administration said $12 million in tax refunds would be released

Government House said on June 6, 2019, that the Virgin Islands government would release $12 million in income tax refunds.

According to the announcement, the funding was expected to cover refunds for about 6,000 taxpayers based on filing date and complete returns not under audit filed in tax year 2016, along with additional returns not under audit filed through April 12, 2017.

The announcement said the $12 million followed $4.8 million in income tax refunds issued in May, bringing the total paid by the administration to about $17 million.

The Department of Finance said it would begin issuing refund checks on June 13, 2019.

Government House also urged taxpayers who had not filed 2018 tax returns to do so and reminded those with valid extensions that their filing deadline was October 15, 2019.
