Bryan issues statement after Senate Finance Committee advances bill to repay 2011 salary cuts

Gov. Albert Bryan Jr. on June 24, 2021, issued a statement after the Senate Finance Committee passed legislation to repay the 8% salary cuts imposed on government employees in 2011.

Bryan said he supported repaying the cuts and said his administration had submitted legislation earlier in June 2021 proposing to begin payments in the current fiscal year and continue them in the next fiscal year until the amounts owed were repaid.

He also criticized the committee’s deliberations, saying some senators had portrayed his administration as opposing repayment. Bryan said he looked forward to the measure moving through the remaining legislative process and reaching his desk for signature.
