Bryan nominates Gordon Rhea as Virgin Islands attorney general
Gov. Albert Bryan Jr. announced on April 22, 2024, that he had nominated attorney Gordon Rhea to serve as attorney general of the U.S. Virgin Islands.
Government House said Rhea is a graduate of Stanford University Law School whose legal career included criminal defense work in Los Angeles, service as special assistant to the chief counsel of the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence Activities, and work as an assistant U.S. attorney and executive assistant U.S. attorney in Washington, D.C.
According to Government House, Rhea moved to the Virgin Islands in 1981, prosecuted major criminal cases as an assistant U.S. attorney, and later co-founded the St. Croix law firm Alkon and Rhea. The administration also said he is a 40-year member of the Virgin Islands Bar and received the Winston Hodge Award in 2024.
"Gordon Rhea’s impressive track record of legal accomplishments and managerial expertise will greatly benefit the Virgin Islands as we continue to strengthen our justice system," Bryan said in the announcement.
