Part of St. Croix Route 70 was scheduled to close on Nov. 18 for water main work
The Virgin Islands Water and Power Authority said part of Route 70 on St. Croix was scheduled to close beginning at 6:30 a.m. on Sunday, Nov. 18, 2018, for installation of a new 24-inch water main.
The closure was set for Route 70 from the Questa Verde entrance to the Golden Rock-Christiansted Bypass intersection at Routes 70 and 723. WAPA said the road would remain closed until the work was completed.
Motorists were to be rerouted at the intersections of Route 723 and Route 70, and Route 63 and Route 70.
WAPA said its contractor, GEC, was to perform the work as part of the Pressure Management Plan Phase II project, funded under the Drinking Water Capital Improvement Grant Program.
The authority said the roadwork was not expected to interrupt water or electrical service.
