Bryan administration scheduled workforce development summit for Nov. 13-14 in U.S. Virgin Islands

Government House said on November 4, 2019, that Gov. Albert Bryan Jr. would host a Workforce Development Summit on November 13 and 14, 2019, in St. Thomas and St. Croix.

According to the announcement, the summit was intended to bring together employers, legislators, educators, union leaders, policymakers, human-resources professionals and workforce-development professionals to begin creating a territory-wide workforce strategy.

Government House said representatives from the U.S. Office of Apprenticeship, subject-matter experts and work-based learning practitioners had been invited to discuss successful models and existing work-based learning initiatives in the territory.

The St. Thomas meeting was scheduled for November 13 at the WICO facility. The St. Croix meeting was scheduled for November 14 at Divi Carina Bay Hotel and was to be open to the media.

Government House said the summit was part of National Apprenticeship Week, observed from November 11 through November 17, 2019.
