Bryan orders week of mourning after death of former Gov. Charles W. Turnbull

Gov. Albert Bryan Jr. announced on July 3, 2022, that Virgin Islands flags across the territory would be flown at half-staff through sunset on July 10 following the death of former Gov. Charles W. Turnbull.

Bryan also declared a period of mourning for the same dates.

In a statement, Bryan said Turnbull, the territory’s sixth elected governor, was "a historian, culture-bearer, and educator" whose work contributed to the Virgin Islands' educational and political advancement.
